The Wallzine on Al Gore's Current TV
Bridget Hugo, Brixton-based artist, community activist and lead singer in London rock band Donderdag, features this week on Current TV, Al Gore's project for her efforts with The Wallzine.
View her here in the video called Miss FX.
Her poster-size zines are beautifully designed and packed with inspirational social commentary and political messages, as contributed by thinkers, doers and artists. Collectable and printed in limited quantities, The Wallzine is beginning to appear about town, as fans plaster Bridget's creation where they like. Before anyone screams Banksy! or Andre the Giant! please stop. Love them though we street art fans do, they differ in approach by leaving visual statements left to individual interpretation, and working hard to promote the sense that the work is being distributed mysteriously. Bridget has no intention of hiding out as she pens and designs her manifesto of thoughts. She delivers her posters to a few shops in town and other places in person, with a friendly smile and some discussion. Her artwork is packed with clear and present messages, all brief and engaging thoughts that just might brew a minor, or major revolutionary thought in someone's head. So while sipping that frappe latte thingy in a cafe in Brixton, please pause to absorb The Wallzine.
