AURA: THE STUFF AROUND THE STUFF AROUND YOU - WORKSHOP
Probably the best metaphor for an aura sound world is to imagine walking through an array of invisible audio speakers suspended in space. Each speaker represents a sound node and emits different audio depending on where you, the user, is situated in relation to it. The sounds appear to act like real sounds in the real world. Steve Symons invites you play with his aura software and create your own 3D audio worlds using GPS enabled PDAs.
Sunday, June, 24th, 6pm
RAY LEE - PERFORMANCE
In this site-specific presentation, Ray Lee will perform with theremins and custom designed tone oscillators in order to demonstrate and further explore the hidden forces that surround us. A virtual cornucopia for the senses, Lee's performance will combine movement, and sound to produce an unforgettable audio experience.
Wednesday, June 27th, 6pm
ROLF GEHLHAAR & LUIS GIRAO - SOUND:SPACE
SOUND:SPACE is an electronic musical instrument that is played - by one person or several at the same time - by moving around in an empty space. It consists of a system of ultrasonic sensors - an ultrasonic echo location system - that very accurately picks up the positions and movement of people within the space, linked to a computer and a synthesiser and/or sampler that produces sounds accordingly. The effect is like walking or moving some part of your body across imaginary keyboards which are spread around the floor of a room. Inventor Rolf Gehlhaar will present the history, concepts and technology behind Sound:Space to our audience at Kinetica- accompanied by Luis Girao.

When Cybersonica 07 took over the Tate Britain museum last week, a few thousand people came out to celebrate the festival's opening night. Among them were a couple of Vox readers. Thanks Liz and Lindajoy for making it out for Late at Tate last week.
I heard from Piers and Renster, who say they plan to make it to the next Cybersonica 07 happening. Glad you are planning to stop by guys, we welcome all of the London Vox.com community to come to our Soundwaves exhibition - a collection of sonic artworks to be on view at Kinetica Museum in London's Spitalfields market beginning 17 May, for six-weeks.
Right now the Cybersonica 07 judges are making the tough decision about what new artists and work will be selected for commissioning this year. Four new works will be on view for the Soundwaves exhibit at Kinetica, and proposals have been submitted from many of the international followers of Cybersonica. The commissioning of new works is made possible with support of the Arts Council England.
Cybersonica 07 also visits Cambridge this year for the Enter_Unknown Territories festival and Bradford for b.TWEEN 07.
Thanks for the support of the festival Voxers - and here is a highlight video from Opening Night at Late at Tate:

In its sixth year, this is the city's largest international gathering for electronic music, digital and sonic art and experimental technology - a showcase for many exciting emerging artists.
This year the festival kicks-off by hosting Tate Britain's monthly Late at Tate evening from 6-10pm.
Exhibiting will be live performers (The Sancho Plan, Brian Duffy's Modified Toy Orchestra, DJ Shelley Parker, body>data>space, and more) and featuring in the museum's rotunda will be Martyn Ware (The Human League, Heaven 17) showcasing his 3D immersive sound system, invented with his mate Vince Clarke (Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Erasure) for their company The Illustrious Company. Cybersonica has partnered with the Encompass music festival, and Kinetica Museum to bring artists and performers to the Late at Tate night, and is supported with funding from the Arts Council England.
So, can't make it Friday? Don't worry - you get another chance, as Cybersonica will be exhibiting at Kinetica Museum in trendy Spitalfields for six-weeks, beginning 17th May.
